Purpose: Define critical new behaviors required for success. May apply to the impacted population, the implementation team, leadership group, or other stakeholder group.
Process: Group discussion.
1) Brainstorm — Refer to the future state definition and ask “what would people have to do ‘more of’ or ‘less of’ to make the future state a reality?”
2) Discuss & Prioritize — collect their answers. Prompt them to focus on behaviors that would lead to the future state (not outcomes that would be the result of achieving the future state).
3) Synthesize — create a list that has a verb+noun in each line.
4) Finalize — ask group to review their input and invite them to select a few of the most critical behaviors (top 3-5).
Product: list of desired future state behaviors.
