Purpose: Define and create alignment around project purpose (or any other key definition).
Process: This is a group discussion that should follow the following steps.
1) Brain write — Ask participants to write in 20 words or less their understanding of what the purpose and/or objective of the project is.
2) Get input — Ask them to post their statements on a flipchart or white board.
3) Consolidate — Identify common terms & clarify unclear terms. Facilitate group to combine all statements into one.
4) Finalize — Without wordsmithing, ensure all participants agree with the intent and the form of the final statement.
Product: Agreed upon project objective.
